Unbearable random restarts and BSODs

Hi all,

I'm going to post my forum link from the Linus Tech Tips forum because everything I've attempted and all the information is in that thread.

I've been having awful hard restarts for a year now and for a while it got better but this week has been particularly awful. 15+ restarts today (3 within 10 minutes!!) playing World of Warcraft. I'm about to throw this $3,000 PC out of the window!! 

Please help! I've done a physical inspection of my mobo, no bulging capacitors or anything I can't imagine what else it could be!

I've updated my post over there to reflect me posting here. I apologize if it offends anyone but I'm about to lose hair over this and this forum has been incredibly helpful to me in the past.

Hi, It is just so that we do not continue working and the other team keeps working.

There is no need to use the Quote all Box, left overs from years ago.  Back space it out of the way and just type.  If need to use Quote use the Toolbar Quote Tool.  Thanks.

That is not much in the way of size.  Suggest go Click on your name Right Top Corner then click on My Settings them left side Manage Attachments and delete prior ones that maybe taking up your up load limit.   If that fails upload to a respectable File Share Site.  Note : it is a 3 step Process to Attach Files here.

Will work on these now - I've attached my zip folder. Also I didn't update the bios because turning off DOCP seemed to fix the issue and last time I did I was locked out of my pc (changed the security settings). Will update now. Thank you!
 

3080 has 10GB of GDDR6X RAM and yes it is a FTW3 Ultra (10G-P5-3897)

Okay, I've done all of the above mentioned fixes and will be playing tonight - will update! Also I couldn't find any remnants of IOBIT besides that one Task so I deleted it.

Having a new issue now... WoW is freezing my entire pc. No restart this time but the effects in game degrade (like webs on ground turn into black cirlces with no texture) then it freezes my entire pc - cant even open task manager. I can still hear audio though (discord) which is odd. EDIT: I did sfc /scannow and repaired the game files let's see if that fixed it.
 

EDIT 2: Did not fix. Audio glitches out in the game then freezes the entire pc. audio still works though. Assuming this is a graphics issue

Hi, So what is the PSU wattage on this and how old is ??

I see comments re the video card needing 400 Watts.  

I also notice there is a BIOS Flash someone did or something with a Hybrid Kit and the flash was to make it show as Hybrid :

Suggest stop stress testing the frigging thing unless asked to.  As well since not getting Dump Files it is useless. AND cutting your life span of the system.

In the Sysnative upload there is only one dump and your System log shows only one BSOD since June 2024. There are a lot of system crashes and restarts in the System log however. What's important there is that a BSOD happens when Windows catches the problem, a crash and restart happens without Windows being aware of a problem. That's a strong indication that the cause of the problem is probably a hardware failure rather than a software failure - because Windows can almost always catch software failures and BSOD.

One thing I do notice is that you have all four RAM slots populated. There is a lot of talk on the web that AMD CPUs are often not stable with four RAM sticks and it's recommended to only install RAM in pairs with AMD CPUs. There is no hard evidence to support this hypothesis but there are a lot of people who claim that populating only two slots stopped their problems.

I think it worth, even as a test, to remove two of those RAM sticks. Check the motherboard manual to ensure that the remaining two are in the correct slots (usually A2 and B2). See whether it's more stable on just two RAM sticks. If it is, then swap the RAM sticks over and run on just the other two. If it's stable on all RAM sticks but only with two at a time I'd would suspect that your AMD CPU is one that's not happy with four RAM sticks.

FWIW the one dump for the on BSOD that you did have was a VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE, which means that an attempt by the Windows Timeout Detection and Recovery feature to reset the graphics driver and graphics card, following a detected graphics hang, was not successful. That's commonly either a graphics driver error or a graphics card error. However, the dump also contains an image check failure...

This indicates that the checksum of a driver image in the dump does not match the checksum of the Microsoft copy of the driver. That too is often an indication of a RAM problem.

BTHport.sys is associated to Bluetooth.   What have you added or subtracted from the system re Bluetooth.

Suggest Uninstall Bluetooth from add remove programs (yes still there for now. Start-->Search-->add remove programs ) reinstall the driver from your Motherboard Support Page.

Pkshadow: My psu is an RM850x (850W) I've pasted the requested info below. I looked up bluetooth in add/remove programs and nothing came up. I don't use bluetooth much if ever on my desktop but I installed the newest driver from the mobo site as directed

ubuyusa: I tried with two dimm slots and it froze immediately. I'm typing now on one dimm slot and it hasn't frozen immediately but I'm not super hopeful - will edit this if it crashes. EDIT: It froze again. At least now it's not restarting it's just freezing - basically the same result though I have to hard reset

Can you turn off all RGB if possible, for now - Vanity is problematic especially when there is too much.

Hi,

I've deleted all the fonts. 

I've booted into safe mode to delete all the folders mentioning Universal Holtek and Patriot Viper RBG (said they were in use before).

Uninstalled the only cracked game launcher I had.

NuForce uDAC5 is my DAC and I had trouble finding drivers online. I found a recent one from reddit but that made my DAC not work anymore so I uninstalled and rebooted. 

I did the virus scan and throughout it the number of detected files went up but I let it finish after a few hours and at the end it said no viruses were found so I clicked finish.

Not sure about the pagefile.sys but if you'd like me to take actions outlined in that article let me know.

One thing I'd like to mention is that the problems have gotten significantly better. After my last post I've no longer gotten any freezes and only one restart. I would say the problem is getting better but this is exactly what happened in the Linus Tech Tips forum. It seemed fixed and then months later it came back with a vengeance. Maybe disabling windows update on the graphics card will fix this from coming back but I feel its important to note that this problem has gone away before and come back with a vengeance. Anyways on the bright side I haven't been able to replicate the restarts since my last post which is good I guess although they were super random in the first place (only occurred in certain places in my game and nowhere else - stress testing did nothing to trigger these).

Hi, using stuff like Fonts from Non-reputable places or purchasing them has been a problem for years and years.

You probably have tons of Fonts on your system that have not explored.

The crack possible the source of your issue.

I still do not feel confident though as you mention it finds stuff then announces that your clean.  This is a typical way of hiding in plain site.

So systems are not suppose to BSOD and when they do damage accumulates.
