Attached File  20241110_210248.jpg   148.45KB   0 downloads   How can this be fixed? I erased linux & installed windows which was showing 1 disk unallocated. When it restarted it would not boot. So, I booted hirens to investigate the disk & it showed 2 disks. I tried to erase both disks with a partition wizard then I tried diskpart in command prompt nothing worked. I can't get it back to 1 disk.

When using diskpart how many disks are listed when you type the following commands at the command prompt.

diskpart

list disk

If the above commands shows more than one disk post a screenshot.

If the above commands show one disk then continue with the following commands

select disk X    Where X is the number of the disk shown in the list disk command.

clean               This wipes the partition table

exit

exit

Do you still get two disks when installing Windows?

Disconnect the data drive. Do the diskpart commands in post #2 including the clean command. Then do a clean install of Windows on the drive. You can do the diskpart commands during the clean install.

When you get to the screen asking for language press Shift + F10 to open a command prompt. When you get to the screen asking for upgrade or custom select Custom. You will see your unallocated drive. Click Next and Windows will partition and format the drive.

That error you get seems to suggest you still have the grub boot loader from linux on the drive.
