I used to find this so easy in Windows 10 when you could  simply click on My Pictures and expand all the folders in the left list then just drag from one  location to another

.

You cannot expand the folders in Windows 11 and I have just spent an hour trying to find out how to do it.  I have found advice in google but nothing works.  I really couldn't understand any of the advice either.

Is there any way of getting the old way back so you can expand the folders.  If not can anyone explain and easy way to transfer a folder of photos I've collected in Desktop to a named folder in Pictures?

I hate Windows 11 with a vengeance!!

No idea have never ever used Microsoft Supplied Folders for anything.

Why not use this tool : Can open up for 4 Panes at a time and drag and drop between them : https://www.techspot.com/downloads/6482-q-dir.html

You cannot expand the folders in Windows 11..........................

If you're talking about the standard Windows 11 File Explorer, then in the Navigation pane on the left, hover your mouse over a folder in the top section, and a tiny chevron icon should appear to the left of the folder name. Click on it to expand (or collapse) the folders.

If that doesn't work for you then I can suggest a couple of quick 'n' easy alternative methods.

Dont hate Windows 11!
Just open two File Explorer windows side-by-side - one for Desktop and one for Photos. You can then easily drag and drop between them. Else, open File Explorer> go to the View tab > click on Show> then select Navigation Pane. this will give you a folder tree similar to what you had in Windows 10.
