a browser option - MyPal

MyPal Browser may be a good option for Windows Vista users (and maybe for XP users).   

I just downloaded and installed and tried MyPal on the old laptop with Windows Vista, and although slow, it so far seems to work; I tested signing in to Google account and visited Gmail and YouTube; but have not yet tested too much else with it.

MyPal was a fork of Pale Moon with support for Windows XP (and also worked on Vista). I use the past tense because feodor2 was compelled to stop development after Moonchild Productions complained about Mozilla Public License violations. Developer roytam1 of MSFN is still maintaining similar browsers based on Pale Moon and other Firefox forks for the benefit of Windows XP.

At last report, feodor2 was trying to develop a browser based on much more recent Firefox code that would work on Windows XP (something even Chinese companies have not done), and was having some success. However, his MSFN account features a Ukrainian flag, and the well-publicized hostilities in Ukraine might be an obstacle to completion of this very interesting project (also to be called MyPal).

The Mypal browser seems to not be capable of taking on any extensions or add-ons.

That site looks interesting.  I only took a brief look.  MORE PEOPLE READING THIS MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN LOOKING THROUGH THAT SITE.

I just came across a favorable mention of the MyPal beta based on Firefox 68. It can be found at GitHub. Of course old browsers that supported XP/Vista may not function well at GitHub because the site uses up-to-date JavaScript, so readers might have to use a newer computer to download MyPal 68. FWIW the most up-to-date JavaScript engine of any browser that works on Windows XP or vanilla Vista belongs to Extreme Explorer 360 version 13 (based on Chromium 86). Even there, the future looks bleak: Latest version of Extreme Explorer 360 does not support XP.

That extension is for Google Web Components on Firefox-based browsers at GitHub only, is it not? Again, readers might have difficulty downloading it unless they have a newer PC, or unless they are using Extreme Explorer 360 v13 on their XP or vanilla Vista.

There are multiple users reporting in the MS Answers forum that they are seeing Javascript errors today when they try to sign in to the Outlook.com webmail application using Firefox ESR v52.9.0, but one user in N Kalanga's 26-Apr-2022 thread Outlook.com Mail Javascript Not Loading has reported that they can still sign in with their Mypal browser.

I don't know if this is a temporary glitch or a permanent problem related to the Javascript version used with Firefox ESR v52.9.0, but it could be related to Microsoft's announcement that they are starting to turn off basic authentication (Basic Auth) that allows users to connect to Microsoft mail servers using only a username and a password and moving to modern authentication methods (e.g., like OAuth2) .  There is a discussion in the AskWoody forum at Moving Away From Basic Authentication where some users are posting about recent glitches they encountered when they reconfigured their email client to use IMAP instead of the old POP3 email protocol that uses older authentication methods.
