My MacBook Operating System is Corrupted

The operating system on my MacBook is corrupted and I have important files that I need to recover and am unable to access. Is there a way to re-install an operating system without wiping my memory? I need to transfer files externally so I can access them on a different computer, but my operating system is corrupt to the point where it won't let me copy any files. Thanks!

Have you booted to the recovery partition and tried using Disk Utility to repair the disk? It might help with data recovery, or even getting the system bootable.

You can access the recovery by holding Option on startup, then select the Network Boot (or Recovery partition if available). You can then go to Utilities -> Disk Utility, First Aid, then "Repair Disk". I'd run "Repair Permissions" as well.

I'm not as familiar with a utility for pulling data for a Mac without pulling the HDD and hooking it up to another computer (my preferred method). I'll let someone else advise you on that part.

Try first what wrote @Demonslay above. The another solution is to use Disk Warrior to get back your files.

Youll have to download macOS off the internet (if you can find one) or take to the apple store
