Hello, guys. :)

I built a PC for the first time, and I have no idea what causes my problem. The PC boots normally in the BIOS (there is no OS on it yet). After a while, the screen goes black (“No signal – The screen has gone into power saving mode.”). The CPU and case fans continue to run normally. Everything seems normal except for the screen turning off/black screen. The black screen happens completely randomly after a while. Sometimes after what feels like 15 minutes, sometimes after what feels like 30 minutes. At first, I thought it was a temperature problem, but according to the BIOS, the CPU temperature is 50 degrees when idle. The MB temperature is between 40 and 50 degrees. The CPU and RAM were detected. There shouldn't be any problems there either. I tried to install the OS once, but there was also a black screen after a while. To be honest, I don't want to try it again until the cause of the black screen has been clarified, otherwise I'll destroy something. I have now removed the GPU that was taken over from the old PC and put it back in my old PC. Everything runs fine there.

Today I rebuilt the GPU into the new PC again, making sure everything was snug and secure. Spent a good 20 minutes in the BIOS to test whether the screen went black again. Everything worked. I was really relieved, so I started installing Linux. A quick look at the HW monitor: CPU: nice 42 degrees, mainboard: 38 degrees. Everything's perfect. This time it took a full half to three quarters of an hour until the PC had a black screen again. Checked the temperature -> the interior was very warm, but nothing that would even indicate overheating. Did a hard reset and tried to start the PC several times. Nothing. Couldn't boot anymore. Fan, GPU, all LEDs lit but no display. Okay, removed the GPU again and started the PC with the integrated graphics unit. Lo and behold, it booted back into the BIOS without any problems. Built the GPU back into the old PC (which I'm writing on here) and everything works as it should. I'm really clueless. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

Hi, Welcome to BC.

Did you Flash the BIOS to Version : 3.06 or above ?        Update AMD AGESA 1.2.0.0a           Patch A for Ryzen 9000 CPU performance optimized.  Minimum Ver : 3.01

https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650I%20Lightning%20WiFi/index.asp#BIOS

And

As per pcpartspicker : Warning: Some AMD B650 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Granite Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

Note : The ram needs to be throttled down to below DDR5-5600 so can use XMP and as for Max Speed of Ram as per Chip Spec Page :

https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/desktops/ryzen/9000-series/amd-ryzen-5-9600x.html

&

that the you have Refereed to the motherboard manual to determine which specific memory slots to use for 2 sticks DDR5.

&

NOTE : G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory is not on the Motherboard QVL.  Support up to Ryzen 8000 & 7000 ONLY.  No Support for Ryzen 9000

No Support listed for Memory on Ryzen 9000

In BIOS turn off anything that speeds up the boot.

Once Windows is installed turn off MS Fast Start :  Win 10 : https://www.windowscentral.com/how-disable-windows-10-fast-startup

Win 11 : https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/how-to-enable-or-disable-fast-startup-on-windows-11

Samsung 990 has Windows Support for 10 only.  Does not say anything about Linux.  Check for Firmware.

https://semiconductor.samsung.com/us/consumer-storage/support/tools/

M/B QVL shows no support for Samsung 990https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650I%20Lightning%20WiFi/index.asp#Storage

Board not ready for Prime Time yet.

Hello, first, thank you for your answer. :)

Just for clarification, because I'm kind of confused. Are you an AI?

Because much of your advices doesn't make any sense (at least for me), but thank you anyway.

I just testet everything in an hour with the iGPU the CPU offers. No black screens. It just happens when the dedicated GPU is connected via Riser cable which was delivered with the case (Fractal Design Terra).

No Not AI.

And everything makes perfect sense if you read and look at the URL's given  to support the answers.

Will leave it at that and will let others help.  May want to read your manual, look at Your M/B Support Pages and QVL as per URL's

Support on this Topic is Withdrawn,

G' luck
