I'm leaning towards purchasing a new desktop over getting a laptop plus docking station.

My old desktop is was purchased in 2016 and runs Windows 10. When I thought my hard-drive was failing in 2020, I purchased this 6 TB hard drive.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MYKZGVX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

The original hard drive was fine and I never installed the one I purchased.

I mostly need a computer for some Teams and Zooms meetings along with email and other work from home duties.  One of my hobbies is collection old radio and TV recordings so I do house a large collection of mp3 files and .ISO files

Not looking to spend a ton of money for an ultra fast system or overspend in general.

I could purchase a new desktop and install that 6 TB hard drive or get a laptop.  Will need a built in webcam.

Any recommendations?

I'm in the US.  I can spend up to a $1000 but for my needs I wouldn't think I would need that much.

Dell Inspiron 16 (5640)

Inspiron 16 5640 Owner's Manual

Needs consideration if you would prefer a desktop, opening up a computer to fit an additional drive may void your warranty + you will need to source an external webcam/

Thanks!  That is coming from the UK. Is there an equivalent that would be shipped from the US?

Hang Back for a year, and go straight to Windows 12.

I'm currently running W10 and plan to replace it with a w12 jobbie.

However, I shall run "Opatch", after October '25, for about 6 months, while the worst of the glitches are ironed out.
