Hi,
I have an old Dell Precision T3500 workstation that I parked on a shelf for the past several years, recently I decided to turn it into a LAN media server but when I hit the power button I got the following beep code: 1-3-2, which according to https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000123890/precision-t3500-t5500-t7500-workstations-diagnostic-lights-and-beep-codes means "1st 64 K RAM test in progress or failure" which additionally means what exactly? I have only cleaned the contacts on my RAM as well as the slots to no avail; Does this mean one or more of my sticks are kaput or is it something on my motherboard that has given up the ghost? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

m

Here's where I stand now. I have removed all three sticks and tested each in DIMM1, unplugging and holding the power button a good 10 seconds for good measure between each only to discover that according to the second post in the article, all three have called it quits? Seems unlikely, but I will spring for some new RAM and update.

Thanks again!

m

I would pull the power cable. Remove the CMOS battery, and then hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Replace the CMOS battery. If the battery is old, replace it.

Did you have any pre-diagnostic LED lights as shown in your link?

is there a machine where you can test each RAM Stick in?

Thanks for the interest. I replaced the CMOS battery with a fresh one before I even powered up, after being shelved for several years...
I do have a pre-diagnostic light, a solid green 1 which tells me "Memory subsystem configuration activity is in progress. No memory modules were detected."

I have an old Dell Optiplex 360 I can see if the config is the same and if so try them there. I am doubting they will be compatible.

Thanks,

m
