Excel 2013 not opening on win 7 for me today,

and had the same issues last week. Is something going on about excel 2013 that I have missed....all

scans are clean....message sez something has gone wrong and cannot open the program....TIA....don

If troubleshooting doesn't work you can do a full Office repair. Create a restore point before doing the repair.

Welp, I can't get a "restore" on this pc, I think because of anti virus program, "malwarebytes", so

any idea how to temporarily disable that??? thanks.....don

What do you mean by "restore"?

Are you talking a "system restore" using an existing Windows restore point?

Please tell us exactly which of the steps suggested in the MS tutorial and/or in the wintips tutorial you have tried and the results of each.

Before we go down a rabbit hole on this, a few disclaimers:

1. I have not used Office 2013 or Windows 7 in many years

2. As previously mentioned, fixing issues with obsolete software on an unsupported OS and old hardware may or not be simple or fruitful, but we will try our best.

Yes I am talking about system restore, using existing restore point......since I can't get

a system restore, I have not proceeded beyond the first step.....

I see no mention of using system restore HERE.

The first recommendation there is to try to start Excel in Windows Safe Mode as a troubleshooting step.

So, I'm not sure what you may have tried.

But, if system restore is not working on your computer, that is  -- to a certain extent -- a different and (perhaps) a more serious issue.

Have you tried the tutorial for which John provided the link to REPAIR OFFICE?

okay will sortt thru this and see if I can get anything accomplished

well  i tried a repair on it, but it would not work, even went to online repair and no joy there either....oh well....will try more later,

If you are using Office 2013 for personal use there are two free options.

If you open a lot of Office documents from other people there is Free Office that is highly compatible with Microsoft Office

I HAVE softoffice on my laptop so if I cannot get back into win2013 office I will recreate the important stuff here....gthanks
