Hi

as was said earlier this was a security enhancement introduced after W7.  It is an extension to D.E.P (Data Execution Prevention).

It may be possible to bypass it by dissabling DEP depending on when it kicks in, have a look at this tutorial

https://www.vistax64.com/threads/dep-turn-on-or-off-for-programs.65790/

I take it you didn't have an external back-up, or an earlier restore point

DEP is a security feature.
Disabling DEP further degrades your system security.
It's a bad idea, especially for the sake of running an obsolete, insecure program.

Multiple safer alternatives were described in Reply #11.

I understand that's not the answer you were looking for.

Respectfully submitted

@MoxieMomma How do I say as politely as possible please leave My thread! (I thought you had twice already...)

Your platitudes about being more secure with newer products are not wanted.

Hi,  Just for completeness, just thought I'd let you know having got a copy of the Office suite prog's as DVD I was able to reinstall this without problem and once activated, am back to working as normal.:)  So that message was more about incompatibilities as suggested.
