A few weeks back I purchased a USB Netgear 7000 off Ebay, it was super cheap $20 part of the reason for buying it.  My HP laptop down stairs came with a poor internal card that never made it above 50mbps. The 7000 boosted it to 130, down loaded the driver off the Netgear site, basically plug and play.  It takes up very little room also I leave it folded as I see little to no speed change.

Interesting  add on!  I unplugged the 7000 from its stand I then plugged directly into the USB port.  I ran Speed Test I got about 25 Megs better speed then in its stand.
