Hi,

Im still using Macrium 8.0.7279 for Disc Imaging Backup.

I back up to an external 2TB Seagate drive which has (at present 407Gb Free space.

Its normally working well, but today it isnt...

I always Verify my backups (to ensure they will (hopefully) allow me to use them to restore, but today the following has happened:

1, Timed out (not sure why)

2. Completed the backup*, but hung on 4% of the verify stage

3, Stopped at the start of Verify.

4, Just trying the backup without the verify

During the Image backup, there are 2 files in the destination folder:

"0612C9C95A1D9630-00-00.mrimg.tmp" listed as a "TMP file" & "backup_running" listed as a "file".

It has now Completed the Backup, but - as I didn't set it to Verify, it is "unverified".

There is only one file in the folder now -  "disk Image" file.

(*Assume the backup is completing - there is a file there)

Is there anything I can do to fix this issue ?

I will try again tomorrow to see if I can get it to Verify, but don't really want to try and reload the Unverified backup in case it Crashes and I loose what I already have.

Also - Is Macrium the best option these days - given it's not being updated.

Thanks

You can never lose any files backed up by MR...I don't understand your concerns.

I still use version 8, at least once a week.  I do not verify my backups, I feel that's an unnecessary/unfruitful waste of time with MR.

I don't know what "the best option" might be...when it comes to backing up, a working option is the best option, IMO.

Ok thanks.

ive just put all my kit in a new case, so maybe I need to try a different usb port…

either That or the seagate drive is on the way out, although it writes the backup, just isn’t reading it back.

i get your comments about verifying being a waste of time, and that version 8 is still a good option.

Update (FIXED)

It seems that the USB port was the issue (I was using a USB3 port on the front of the case, but previously, I used a USB port on the rear (direct in the back panel).

Putting it back on a USB2 port on the rear panel (as before) solved the issue.

Thanks
