I don't mean to be rude, but I think this is a bit overkill/dramatic. No business is perfect, I don't think the recent "goofs" are tell-tale of any sort of crash. People are people, and they make bad judgement calls or make moves that are less than ideal. Nothing is black and white.
As far as the US Govt. is concerned - absolutely not. That's not really what the government is for - for the most part, the government governs. They don't take over for companies to "revive" software - not to my knowledge anyways.
All that being said, my advice would be to give it time. All good things come to an end, but there are something like 8 billion people in the world. About 1:4 people in the US alone work in the tech industry. There's always new up-and-coming software even if Firefox were to "crash". The glass is always full of something, it might not be what you're focused on but it is always full. Sometimes a shift in perspective is most beneficial in times that continuously change. I would check out the poem about King Ozymandias if you haven't heard of it.
