I use FastStone Image Viewer.  It is free for home users.  It is a great product, much better than the default Windows photo app.

Hope this helps.  Have a great day.

Phil

Hi, suggest open the Microsoft Store and left side Downloads and see if there is a Up Date for it.

If just wanting to look at a pic maybe pan in or rotate then my go to is still Windows Photo Viewer

You can hook it back up  as it is turned off in the Registry :

Win 10 : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/14312-restore-windows-photo-viewer-windows-10-a.html

&

Win 11 : https://winaero.com/how-to-enable-windows-photo-viewer-in-windows-11/

Re not opening properly.   Have you tried resizing the app down from full screen then closing it.  Then start it up and see if opens in the same position as you left it ?

Would also suggest that you delete Restore points no longer needed.  Using the Configure (greyed out) in picture.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-system-restore-a5ae3ed9-07c4-fd56-45ee-096777ecd14e

As well recheck the size you have set for Restore as it maybe too large and that is why so many Restore Points.

.........................if i can't repair it.

The first thing to do is to restart your computer properly by choosing RESTART from the power options.

If that doesn't help then head over to Windows Settings -> Apps -> Photos -> Advanced options. There you'll have the options to repair or reset it. You could also uninstall it from there then grab a new copy from the Microsoft Store.

PS: Please remember to return with an update for us please.

there doesn't appear to be an update or refresher for it. Which is a bit of a nuisance, you would think a refresher for a potentially flawed or corrupted program would be a good idea.

The trouble is, its random. And i just don't want to do much, just zoom, rotate, resize etc i'm not one for editing or anything.

RE Post : # 11 : You quoted back the instructions on how to fix the too many Restore Points.. No Upload is Needed.

See Post # 7 which is a continuation of my thought in Post # 11.     Follow Post # 7 Directions.

Do you really need to use the quote box for every reply  ??? is not needed.

OK. I reset it, then re booted the computer.

It is still the same, it opens some properly, others not.

It was slightly sluggish booting up too, but now and again it is like this anyway.

what is a good size for the restore point box ?

Edit

I'm currently using 21gb of a maximum 10% (45gb) disk space for system restore.
